GCD Participates in FemiTECH Conference 2026

On Friday, 7th March 2026, the Graphic Communication Design, representing the Ghana Women’s Forum, was honored to participate in the FemiTECH Conference organized by the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Center for Excellence in ICT in celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD 2025)

The event brought together distinguished speakers and industry leaders to discuss women’s empowerment in technology, digital privacy, robotics, and leadership.

Key Highlights from the Conference

1. The Role of Men in Gender Equality – Hon. Sam George
The Honorable Minister **Sam George** spoke on the theme **”Gender Equality – The Role of Men Leaders in Promoting Women in IT.”** He highlighted:
– Challenges women face in the IT industry, including **gender biases in AI** and workplace restrictions due to biological differences.
– His ministry’s initiatives in **AI for healthcare, agriculture, and education**, with a strong emphasis on empowering women in AI.

2. Robotics in Our Generation – Dr. G. Ayorkor Korsah**
Dr. **G. Ayorkor Korsah** shared insights on the **impact of robotics** in modern society, emphasizing:
– The three main categories of robotics: **industrial, professional service, and personal service**.
– The role of **engineering, computer science, and interaction design** in robotic development.
– How robotics enhances **visual perception, speech recognition, and decision-making**.
– A call for young women to **seize opportunities in robotics** and contribute to its advancement.

3. Digital Privacy in the Cyber Age – Ing. Dr. Lucy Agyepong
Dr. **Lucy Agyepong** raised awareness about **digital footprints and online privacy**, explaining:
– How the information we share online creates **permanent digital footprints**.
– The **risks of data exposure** and the need for **strong passwords, password managers, and limited sharing of live locations**.
– The importance of **digital reputation management**, especially for women in leadership and career development.

4. The Joy of Leadership – Prof. Elsie Effah Kauffmann
Prof. Elsie Effah Kauffmann delivered an inspiring talk on the essence of leadership, highlighting:
– Leadership as an opportunity to invest in others, rather than seeking titles or credit.
– The joy of making a difference by inspiring action and standing up for what is right.
– Personal growth as a lifelong leadership journey with no final destination.
– Building meaningful connections as a fundamental part of true leadership.

She left participants with a powerful message:
*”If you support me, we will do amazing things together. But if you don’t, I will still grow and achieve them without you.”*
